This MasterClass makes extensive use of scientific jargon throughout its duration. When they are utilized for the first time, Matthew does a fantastic job of describing them in a simple and concise manner. However, it would be useful to have a lexicon available for when the same issues arise again.
Why Getting Enough Sleep Vitally Important?
Despite the fact that this course is all about sleep, I found this segment to be a bit of a wake-up call. I didn’t consider a few extra hours of sleep a week to be a big deal.
However, Dr. Walker noted that studies indicated that when Daylight Saving Time means we lose an hour of sleep as the clocks “spring forward,” 8 percent more people suffer strokes on that day and the next.
A stunning truth that made me realize how critical sleep is to my well-being. Dr. Walker discusses melatonin in this section. What effect it has on sleep and whether or not it is safe to take it as a supplement are the two main questions.
He also discusses social jetlag and sleeps bulimia in his book. Lack of sleep during the week and trying to make up for it during weekends. Many of us have done this at some point or another.
