I got into the routine of looking at recipes on YouTube right before I went to bed at night, and then the next day, my sister and I would put those recipes to the test in the kitchen.
Excellent cooking instruction can be found on masterclass.com. Wolfgang Puck does not waste any time getting to the point.
He has conceived of a number of remarkable dishes, each of which I have been able to reproduce with relative ease and without having to spend a lot of time in the kitchen.
I enjoy hosting get-togethers at my house. So, when I had the opportunity to watch Wolfgang Puck’s Masterclass, I jumped at the chance.
Because he is a chef with a Michelin star, I had high hopes that his course would teach me how to create more interesting dishes in the kitchen, and it has.
This is a class that comes highly recommended to me. This is another class that comes highly recommended to me.

OK, enough of this waffle; from this point forward, this article of Wolfgang Puck Masterclass Review will only discuss Wolfgang’s delicious food and his performance in the course.

Pros & Cons – Wolfgang Puck Masterclass Review
1. Learn from a top-notch chef with a captivating teaching approach.
Wolfgang Puck is a chef whose contemporaries, including Gordon Ramsay and Thomas Keller, regard him as an inspiration. Raymond Thuilier was a mentor to him, and he will teach you the basics of French cuisine.
He has a calm, fatherly demeanor that makes you feel at ease and at ease cooking with him.
You hear about his poor beginnings in Austria and his triumph against adversity. This makes him even more sympathetic and approachable because he, too, has left the pot unattended and burned his béchamel sauce.
2. Become a better cook by mastering a few essential dishes.
One of the things I appreciated most about the MasterClass was the focus on fundamental techniques like making a good béchamel sauce and a good stock.
Because it can be used in so many different meals, béchamel is a great “mother sauce” to learn how to cook with.
- Cheese and macaroni
- Spinach in a Creamy Sauce
- Grits of potatoes
- Mornay is a type of cheese sauce.
- Pie made with fish, of course
3. a nice selection of dishes
The cuisines of France, Italy, and California are all represented in Wolfgang Puck’s extensive repertory. He is a very talented chef. This is made very clear by the recipes that are offered in the class.
This course offers something for everyone, from the novel experience of tuna sashimi to the time-honored tradition of steak with red wine sauce to the familiarity of cocktails.
4. The good balance between theory and practice
In every given class, it is essential to not only learn how to perform a task but also to grasp the reasoning behind why the task is performed in a particular manner. Instead of being restricted to the information that was presented in a class, you will now have the opportunity to apply your newly acquired knowledge to other recipes.
I had the impression that this class was more focused on the application of the material, as there were a lot of recipes to follow and there was less emphasis placed on additional learning.
Having said that, I am a learner who is highly interested in “why” questions, and the supplemental reading in the workbook does help to offer more detail.
5. Improve your culinary skills and deepen your love of food.
The completion of Wolfgang Puck’s MasterClass helped me become a better chef and to take more care of the food that I cook. This was true despite the fact that I was already a passionate home cook.
Since I have finished the course, I notice that I taste my meals more regularly, and I also feel that I am better equipped to improvise and change the balancing to my own personal taste.
After attending just a few lessons, I found that I was wiping down the sides of dishes before serving home-cooked dinners and going the extra mile to make the food sing by adding garnish and fresh squeezes of lemon.
6. Wonderful community
When you complete an online course, you may find that you are missing out on something very important: a sense of community. It is possible to finish an entire course using online learning without ever having to communicate with another student.
In the instance of MasterClass, this is not the case.
A fantastic online community may be found at MasterClass.com. If you go down to the comments section of any video, you will find current questions that are interesting and engaging, as well as useful suggestions from your fellow MasterClass students.
At the conclusion of each video, you will be given the opportunity to participate in the Discussion, which is a forum where you may learn from other people’s experiences and submit screenshots of your own work.
7. Possibility of feedback
Along the way, I was frequently questioned about the specifics of my input. Although I am aware that not everyone feels the same way that I do, I get the impression that MasterClass is extremely invested in the quality of its training programs and is continually searching for ways to improve.
You also have the opportunity to write a final class review, and there is a comment area where you can add any further ideas you have about the class.
This MasterClass presentation does have subtitles, however, they are only available in English. To our great relief, the captions are not automatically generated; therefore, if you rely on them, you should not experience any difficulties.
It may be a great touch to incorporate more languages, particularly German as that is Wolfgang’s original language.
The MasterClass left a pretty favorable impression on me as a whole, but there are certainly certain aspects of it that might use some work. Continue reading to find out whether there are any points that could be deal breakers for you.
1. The lesson sequence
Overall, the MasterClass was a lot of fun, and it was easy to see why the course was organized the way it was.
An excellent stock can be made early on and used in subsequent recipes, for example. Although the first recipe seemed delicious, I found the tuna sashimi recipe a little intimidating.
It’s not as universally liked as, say, Mac & Cheese (which will be discussed in more detail later), but that’s because fish (especially raw fish!) takes a little bit of confidence and talent to find decent ingredients for.
It’s only in lesson 9 that we begin to learn about where to find high-quality fish, so this class doesn’t seem like it belongs until much later.
The Cocktail Class is the perfect way to round off the evening! That last MasterClass party will be a real party!
2. The course manual doesn’t always correspond to the lessons exactly.
I found the workbook to be a really useful tool, and I painstakingly recorded everything I learned in my workbook during the course so that I could go back to it at a later date.
There was one issue that came to light as a result of this: The workbook does not follow the lesson exactly, so I had to go back and forth between sections while also noting differences in the components’ lists.
Sometimes, the recipe was incomplete or mentioned additional components that were never utilized in the class.
For each lesson, there is a section called “Learn More” in the workbook that provides access to additional materials and recipes. MasterClass has a lot of content that isn’t from Wolfgang Puck and isn’t even exclusive to MasterClass at all. A simple Google search will yield all of the other resources.
Then again, there was one thing that really stood out to me: You’ll notice when you download the workbook that my copy is version 3, which indicates that MasterClass is constantly updating its courses.
3. Overall, certainly not suitable for vegans and vegetarians
I was curious to see if this MasterClass was actually vegan-friendly after reading internet reviews. Only one of the nine recipes was vegan, while two were vegetarian but could easily be converted to vegan.
To be expected, there are several close-ups of pieces of meat and whole fish that may be upsetting to those who are vegan or vegetarians.
In general, this course is better suited to non-vegan cooks who want to broaden their culinary horizons by learning how to make a few vegetarian and vegan dishes.
4. lack of a glossary
Throughout the duration of the class, Wolfgang Puck makes frequent use of specialized culinary words like “reduce” and “deglaze.” There are moments when he explains the concepts as he goes along, and there are other times when the technical words are covered in the area of the workbook titled “Learn More.”
On the other hand, this is not always the case, and consequently, it would be useful to see a glossary of terms in order to assist make the course more accessible to cooks with less experience.
Who Should Take This Course?
This is a wonderful introduction to the world of cooking. The way that Wolfgang teaches is really laid back, and he makes sure to keep a good pace. The information that he is imparting to you is fairly simple to take in.
At a price of under $90, there is practically no room for error. You will notice that you are frequently going back and forth between watching his videos and working in his workbook.
If you are anything like me, the things that you learn will have a beneficial impact on a significant portion of the cooking that you do on a regular basis.
His culinary methods and dishes are versatile enough to be employed for a wide variety of situations, not only formal dinner parties. You can purchase the course here.
Don’t forget that if you purchase an all-access pass for Masterclass.com, you will have access to each and every one of their more than 50 different courses.
There are still a few more classes on cooking to attend. As well as the opportunity to gain knowledge in a wide range of topics, including writing, filmmaking, photography, a variety of sports, and many more.
Every single one of the classes is led by A-listers who have been extremely successful in their respective fields for many years. The pass is a steal at just $180, and I, for one, could not say no to such a deal.

Because these seminars are taught by professionals from around the globe, their values cannot be matched. A sort of learning hack is involved. In addition, if you’re not satisfied with your purchase within 30 days, MasterClass will return your money.
There is a way to buy the course separately, but it’s a little confusing. In order to give yourself the gift of learning, you can purchase a single MasterClass for yourself. At this location, you’ll pay $90 for a bottle of this particular wine.
How Unique Is This Content?
Celebrity instructors generally have a long media history, providing interviews and cooking demonstrations. Wolfgang Puck’s course has original content, so can this one? Wolfgang Puck’s MasterClass covers béchamel sauce, “chef-led” cocktails, and tuna sashimi.
You can see Wolfgang Puck cook on TV or YouTube, and a Google search will bring up comparable dishes. Wolgang Puck explains how to create his famous Mac & Cheese in five YouTube videos.
Despite similar free content online, I believed the MasterClass, with more detail and supervised learning, was worth paying for.
A set of Wolfgang’s Kitchen staples
When it comes to having the correct tools, Wolfgang Puck is a huge proponent. In order to have a good time in the kitchen, you need the correct tools and gadgets – and then it’s fun. “
At the end of the course, there is a part titled “Kitchen Essentials” where Wolfgang proposes the essential kitchen equipment that he thinks everyone should own. Some of it isn’t used in the MasterClass, and it’s rather comprehensive.
The MasterClass seminars are wonderful for picking up new abilities in a social setting that is light-hearted and laid back. On the other hand, they do not provide any kind of certification.
Opportunity To Ask Wolfgang Your Questions
One of the features that sets Masterclass.com courses apart from those offered by other providers is the opportunity to pose questions to and receive responses from one’s instructor in real time.
It still blows my mind that Wolfgang Puck, who has a star on the Michelin guide, took the time to address some of my inquiries about cooking.
